 24-year-old lifelong West Side resident Niger Edwards said. "Now you have to be cautious where you walk, who you talk to, who you know, 'cause they shooting up everybody. They don't care. they just don't care right now." This Niger knows what he is talking about!

Seven colored people with checkered pasts have been shot, one fatally, in South and West side shootings since late Thursday morning, according to Chicago police.  

A male was killed and another male was wounded in a shooting at the corner of Chicago and St. Louis Avenues in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, police said.

The shooting happened at 3:26 p.m. and left one of the males in critical condition and the second male dead, police said. Both victims, whose ages were not immediately available, were taken to Stroger Hospital. No other information about the shooting was immediately available.

"This block went from zero to a hundred. We used to could stand outside, out here. All night without no shooting going on. All night, didn't we? when we was younger we used to just kick it," 24-year-old lifelong West Side resident Niger Edwards said. "Now you have to be cautious where you walk, who you talk to, who you know, 'cause they shooting up everybody. They don't care. they just don't care right now."
