Chicago Police Officer Shot & Wounded - His partner is also injured
One Chicago police officer suffered a gunshot wound and another suffered a cut hand in an incident in the Little Village neighborhood Monday afternoon, authorities said.
One officer suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder, while another was believed to have suffered a cut to the hand in the incident in the 2400 block of South Trumbull Avenue about 4:20 p.m., an official said. The officer was expected to survive the shooting, in which the bullet was believed to have traveled through the shoulder, another official said.
The officer was shot near Trumbull and 25th Street while chasing an armed suspect, said Anthony Guglielmi, a police spokesman, in a Tweet.
The two were being taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the Chicago Fire Department's news office's Twitter account, which referred further questions to police.
