Little Chicken Chain Seven Hens Seeks New Owner

Seven Hens, the two-unit Atlanta-based chicken schnitzel chain is for sale.  The Shumacher Group has the listing for the restaurants with an asking price of $225,000. The price includes both units, trademarks, recipes, systems, name or the option to convert to another concept.  The units can be purchased individually for $125,000, but only for conversions to other concepts. 

The counter-service eatery specializes in chicken schnitzel in seven globally inspired flavors. Seven Hens features chicken schnitzel that is local, all-natural, cage-free chicken breast that’s pounded, then breaded.  

The first Seven Hens opened in July 2012 at 2140 North Decatur Road in North Decatur Center at the intersection of North Decatur and Clairmont Roads.  The space is listed as 1,480 square feet with monthly rent (all in) at $3,300 with a long term lease, with options.  

The second Seven Hens opened in October 2014 at 6615 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs at the intersection of Roswell and Abernathy Roads in the Publix-anchored Abernathy Square.   The space is listed as 1,480 square feet with monthly rent (all in) at $4,300 with a long term lease, with options.

Owner  Michael Gurevich had planned to grow the concept nationally, and was poised to create a franchise company, but has since decided to relocate overseas. 

I think the food at Seven Hens is good and am hopeful that a buyer will come forward.  If not, I think the Decatur location makes a lot of sense for another restaurant.   

Personally I could see NaanStop, another Atlanta-based fast casual chain, as being a good fit in the Decatur area location.  NaanStop, a fast casual Indian eatery, currently has locations downtown near Georgia State and in Buckhead near Atlanta Tech Village.  NaanStop would likely do well in the center, located not far from both downtown Decatur and Emory University.  

As for the Sandy Springs location, NaanStop makes less sense there, given there is already Bawarchi Biryani Point, another Indian fast casual eatery, present.  The size of the space makes it too small for one of the many quick serve pizza eateries entering Atlanta, but could be good for another local eatery.
