NYSC ALLOWANCE NOT REDUCED DG NYSC AFFIRMS
The Internet went agog recently with a fake news deliberately fabricated and certainly from the pit of hell by some irresponsible and unscrupulous elements claiming that the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced its decision to downwardly review the monthly allowance of Corps Members by 25%. This is an absolute lie conceived and circulated by morally-challenged charlatans whose reason for such a lie is best known to them.
We at the Voice of Conscience were shocked with the news and in our advancement of advocating for public interest based on a balanced knowledge of the state operations immediately contacted the leadership of NYSC at the National Headquarters.
Our findings revealed that there was nothing of such, it has never been contemplated before, it is not even within the thinking of the scheme. In fact, we sufficiently gathered that the Federal Government is rather considering the possibility of increasing the ALLOWACE and the process has been set in motion.
We therefore call on the public to disregard such news. The news and it's source is not credible and certainly the intention was to create panic amongst Nigerian youth going through the scheme and prospective members. There is no doubt about the fact that the country is currently going through a process of change, and the economy is not an exception. However, indications show that the Federal Government might soon consider and approve an increment in the NYSC allowance immediately government efforts toward revitalising the economy begins to yield the expected outcome.
The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Bamidele Oluwami made it expressly clear that the scheme is moving forward and those were mere distractions by unserious people.
The Director General also on the issue of states yet to pay their allowance, said the process of clearing all that is in place already. The necessary memo has been generated to the Federal Executive council to facilitate the payment and we are optimistic it will be well addressed.
