Another Police Officer Shot...Another Negro the Offender.... Deputy Jamie White shot in face during traffic stop; suspect Joe Lee Garrett, 24, arrested

A Georgia sheriff’s deputy was shot in the face after pulling over a car on a highway southwest of Atlanta Saturday night, police said.

Deputy Jamie White was wounded once above his left eye as he walked up to the blue Chevrolet sedan on I-85 southbound around 7:30 p.m., Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley told WTVM-TV.

One suspect in the shooting, Joe Lee Garrett, 24, surrendered to police across the Alabama border in Phenix City hours later, authorities told the TV station.

Deputies and state troopers had searched late Saturday for all three suspects they said were inside the vehicle as the wounded deputy received treatment in a hospital.
