CHICAGO NEGRO VIOLENCE: Three X Three - 3 dead, 3 wounded in shootings on South, West sides
A 16-year-old boy and two men have been killed and at least three other people have been wounded in separate shootings since just after dawn Sunday on the South and West sides, officials said.
The boy was shot multiple times in the chest about 3:21 p.m. in 3400 block of West Arthington Street in the city's East Garfield Park neighborhood, said Office Kevin Quaid, a police spokesman, who could not confirm the victim's age.
The boy was identified as Nathan Hicks, 16, of the 4700 block of West Gladys Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at 4 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

At 12:55 p.m. a man was killed and a woman injured in a shooting in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. The two were talking on a porch in the 200 block of South Karlov Avenue when a male attacker fired multiple shots at them, Quaid said. The 20-year-old man was shot multiple times and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, while the 19-year-old woman had a graze wound to her back and was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition.
The man was identified as Deshawn Thompson, of the same block where he was shot, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m. at Mount Sinai.
