Hundreds of Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart's Correctional Officers Called in "SICK" Today - Mother's Day - Cook County Jail on LOCKDOWN due to manpower shortage

Correctional Officers sending a message to Tom Dart and his grandstanding antics? Jail placed on lockdown due to massive absentee call off. Since Dart took office one in four officers calls off absent on a daily basis costing taxpayers 57 million dollars in overtime costs just since 2014.  

Today the staffing levels at the Cook County Department of Corrections (CCDOC) have dropped below the normal staffing levels which allow us to operate the facility at full operations. The CCDOC has been placed on lockdown for officer safety. While placed on lockdown inmates will be allowed movement for medical reasons, emergencies, and visitation only. Discharges will also be processed. Regular divisional movement, programs and operations will be restored as soon as staffing levels reach the normal level.
