Couple moving into missing Black ex-con’s apartment found his dead body next to note: ‘Sorry for the smell’

The body of a murdered Bronx ex-con — his remains wrapped up in plastic and blankets — was found near a note apparently by the killer that read, "Sorry for the smell," police sources said Wednesday.

The note was found by a couple who was allowed to move into victim Sidney Harris’ apartment after the landlord hadn’t seen him for a while, the sources aid.

Harris, 64, was found cocooned in plastic and blankets inside his Arthur Ave. apartment about 9:40 p.m. on Monday. He died of multiple skull fractures, according to the city Medical Examiner.

It was not immediately known how long Harris’ body had been in the apartment before it was discovered, but neighbors told the Daily News that there was a foul odor coming out of the apartment on Monday.
