Colored Wildebeest Trinyce L. Sanders-Wilson, 38, shot & killed outside of the Mt. Olive Missionary Church on Chicago's West Side

For a race of people who so much churching, they do so much killing....

As a Broadview woman walked out of church in the Austin neighborhood on Sunday, she was shot and killed by her husband, who then killed himself, police said.

Trinyce L. Sanders-Wilson, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:26 p.m., according to police and the medical examiner’s office.

The shooting occurred outside about 2 p.m., shortly after the end of services at Second Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, in the 5700 block of West Chicago Avenue, where both were members.

“Trinyce was a beautiful person — a mother, a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a confidante, a friend to many people,” her sister, Phenesha Odom said Monday. “Trinyce, she had a lot of family and friends who loved her. Trinyce was very talented. Trincye was a God-fearing woman. Trinyce will be greatly missed.”

Her sister was a cheerleader, a hairstylist who was excellent at academics, and a mother of five, her sister added. She did not want to discuss the shooting and did not say whether she was there at the time.

Her husband Roshaun D. Wilson, 40, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:39 p.m., authorities said.

Donald Wilson, Roshaun Wilson’s uncle, said he couldn’t shed any light on what would have led to Sunday’s shooting. The couple “obviously” had problems, he said, but “they kept it very quiet.” He called his nephew “a wonderful father,” adding: “Obviously, he had some issues in his marriage as a husband. He was a hard-working man. I’ve never seen violence from him at all. Especially at this magnitude. He loves his family.”

Donald Wilson said his nephew had two children with Trinyce Sanders-Wilson. Roshaun Wilson worked various jobs, his uncle said, most recently fixing cars out of his garage.

The couple lived in the 2200 block of South 20th Avenue in west suburban Broadview, according to the medical examiner’s office. Autopsies were scheduled for Monday.

The weapon was recovered at the scene, police said.
