Tavola Folds, Egg Harbor Cafe Hatching Next Year
Breakfast and lunch eatery headed to East Cobb
Lincolnshire, Illinois based Egg Harbor Cafe is coming to East Cobb. The new restaurant will take over the space of the former Tavola Italian Kitchen+Bar that shuttered ahead of the sale to Egg Harbor, which was finalized earlier today. Steve Josovitz and Irving Jacobson of The Shumacher Group, Inc. represented both sides in the transaction. Local East Cobb residents Vincent & Nicole Gallucci, along with their father Rocky, opened Tavola last July in a space many locals will recall as Ritter's, a once popular East Cobb restaurant that abruptly closed at the end of 2014.
The restaurant space is about 5,000 square feet and is located on Lower Roswell Road near its intersection with Johnson Ferry Road.
Egg Harbor Cafe entered the Atlanta market in early 2011 with a location in Johns Creek followed by a second location in Sandy Springs in early 2012. A third metro Atlanta location opened in south Buckhead in 2014.
Egg Harbor locations operate exclusively between the hours of 6:30AM and 2PM, seven days a week.
In East Cobb, Egg Harbor joins existing breakfast & lunch options such as local operators Goldberg's Bagel Company & Deli and Bagelicious, both on Johnson Ferry Road. East Cobb is also the home of two locations of locally owned J. Christopher's with one in Woodlawn Square on Johnson Ferry Road, and the other in East Lake Shopping Center on Roswell Road.
Flying Biscuit Cafe, another locally owned breakfast & lunch eatery, previously operated in the area (in a former Donatos Pizza turned Mama Fu's Noodle House), but closed in 2010 and was subsequently demolished. A Chase Bank was built in its place and operates on the parcel today.
Although neither currently have a presence in East Cobb, two other chains have entered and expanded their presence around Atlanta in the past few years.
Destin, Florida based Another Broken Egg Cafe currently operates five locations in metro Atlanta: Alpharetta, Buckhead, Dunwoody, Johns Creek and Vinings. The company's website indicates new restaurants are "coming soon" to East Cobb, Peachtree Corners, Decatur, Roswell and Savannah. No cities are location specific with the Savannah location having been "coming soon" since at least my September 2013 post announcing the planned opening of Egg Harbor's south Buckhead location.
Bradenton, Florida based First Watch, a similar concept, has also expanded its Georgia footprint since entering the market in 2013. First Watch purchased two (corporately owned) J. Christopher's restaurants (Johns Creek and Smyrna) in late 2012 and reopened them as First Watch restaurants in January of 2013. In the years that followed, First Watch has added new locations in Dunwoody, Alpharetta, Snellville and Kennesaw.
Current projections call for Egg Harbor Cafe's new East Cobb location to open this coming January.
