BRIDGEVIEW, IL - Hot Tempered Tattooer Jonathan Owens, 28, Charged With Discharging Gun at Ex-Boyfriend in Bridgeview

BRIDGEVIEW, IL -- A tattoo artist is accused of firing a gun in a “reckless manner” inside a home in Bridgeview, prosecutors said.

Jonathan Owens, 28, Is appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on felony charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

Bridgeview police responded to a call of shots fired around 5:11 .m. Nov. 8 in the 7300 block of West 85th Street. Officers found a man standing outside who said that Owens pointed a gun to his head. He ran outside when he heard shots, the prosecutor said.

Both the man and Owens were acquaintances. The man had a previous relationship with Owens’ current girlfriend. The prosecutor said the man was going to the home to talk to the woman.

Police found a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun hidden under a mattress inside the residence. Officers found a hole in the floor near where Owens had been standing, the prosecutor said.

A child in the home told police she saw Owens with the gun earlier in the evening, according to the charges.

Owens’ attorney told the judge that the case raised “significant questions.” Bail was at $150,000. Owens was also ordered to surrender his FOID card, guns and ammo.

Owens is due back in court Dec. 5 in Bridgeview.
