NYPD blasted over refusal to disclose ‘predictive’ data due to it revealing that BLACK VIOLENCE & NEGROES are the problem....
The NYPD refusal to disclose how it is using a high tech computer program to monitor the public and possibly predict where crimes will be committed was blasted in court papers filed Friday by the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU law school.
The Center wants the state courts to order police brass to respond to their Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request for information about what software it is using to help the PD do some "predictive policing."
In court papers, the center says that software, notably in a program by Palantir Technologies, "suggests geographic areas where crimes are more likely to occur and can help guide the deployment of police resources," but "the design and application of this initiative could materially affect the civil rights of New Yorkers."
However, the NYPD has not provided "a single document" in response to the Center's FOIL request and has "failed to provide any particularized or specific justification for nondisclosure of the request records."
