OAK FOREST, IL -- An Oak Forest mom is accused of beating her 11-year-old son who she claimed got into trouble for talking too much in school, prosecutors said Friday in court.

Erienna Jamison, 22, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on a felony charge of aggravated battery to a child.

According to the allegations, Jamison whipped her son repeatedly with a leather belt on his back and right arm. She is accused of kicking him in the buttocks. The boy had reportedly gotten into trouble for “talking too much in school.”

Police said there were numerous red welt marks on his back and arm, and redness on his buttocks.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Jamison was involved in a custody battle with the boy’s father. The allegations of abuse were disciplinary in nature.

Bail was set at $10,000. The judge ordered Jamison to not have contact with the child while the case was pending. Jamison is due back in court Jan. 5 in Bridgeview.
