DRIVING WHILE BLACK KILLS, AGAIN: Speeding Black Man, 37, speeds down Bronx street, dies after smashing his car into Laundromat in an attempt to make a CLEAN-GET-AWAY
A 37-year-old tearing down a Bronx street, died Saturday after driving his car into a Laundromat, cops said.
The driver was zooming east on Allerton Ave. at around 9 p.m. when he plowed his black 2003 Chevy Tahoe into two parked cars, struck a light pole and then jumped the curb before crashing into Reda Cleaners on Barnes Ave., cops said.
Witnesses said that the man had been traveling at two or three times the speed limit before the crash, police sources said.
He was taken to Jacobi Hospital, but could not be saved. There were no other reported injuries.
The dead man was not immediately identified, pending family notification.
The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad was investigating.
