Garry Shandling's doctor has refused to sign the death certificate reportedly because he does not know why the comedian died.

LOS ANGELES, CA - A coroner's lieutenant said Saturday an investigation into the death of comedian and actor Garry Shandling has been launched because his doctor refused to sign his death certificate.

Shandling was in good health and his doctor told sources he has no idea why the comedian died, TMZ reports.

Calling it "not a big deal," coroner's Lt. Dave Smith told City News Service that it appears Shandling died of natural causes.

"By the law, the coroner has to inquire into the death, when a doctor does not sign the death certificate," Smith said. "Apparently, he (Shandling) wasn't actually (regularly) going to a doctor's office."
