SEATTLE WA: 2 men die in shooting near Pioneer Square - Violence is plaguing this very liberal city

Seattle police are trying to piece together what led to an early-morning shooting near Pioneer Square that left two men dead.

“We have no idea what precipitated this event,” police Detective Mark Jamieson said.

The two men were shot about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Second Avenue Extension South. One man died at the scene, and the other was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Investigators and detectives were at the scene for several hours Wednesday morning marking evidence and talking to witnesses. Police closed Second Avenue South between Yesler Way and South Washington Street as they investigated.
