A man who allegedly aimed a gun at another motorist during an apparent case of "road rage" on Naperville's far south side has been charged with aggravated assault, Naperville police said.Jeremy Collazo, 27, of the 1200 block of Santa Fe Road in Romeoville, was driving a 2012 Volkswagen the night of March 31 when he apparently became involved in a dispute with the driver of a Nissan, Naperville police Cmdr. Jason Arres said. The trouble "allegedly started on Weber Road near Hassert (Boulevard,)" also known as 111th Street, in Bolingbrook, Arres said.
A Naperville police patrol officer spotted the Volkswagen at about 9:30 p.m., which was "traveling at a high rate of speed, (and then came) to an abrupt stop" behind the Nissan, which was stopped for a traffic signal at the intersection of 87th Street and Plainfield-Naperville Road, Arres wrote Wednesday in an email.
"The officer then observed the driver of the Volkswagen -- Jeremy Collazo -- exit his vehicle and walk up to the driver's side of the Nissan," Arres said. "He appeared to be yelling at the driver," who was traveling alone at the time, Arres said.
